So packing went okay, until i realized i had to shove everthing in my car. ended up sitting cross legged on seat because all foot room was taken up by a ginormous box of crap. But although i managed to almost overflow my car everybody else here has twice as much crap it seems. I got moved in really quick- aided by gator trucks and very energetic upperclassmen volunteers. parents left early afternoon.
Orientation at midd is pretty relaxed- there's scheduled stuff, but it's spread out and so far there's been lots of time to just settle in. last night our first hall meeting consisted of attempting to run a very spontaneous obstacle course which involved rolling over a ball and doing a face plant; this seemed to be the main attraction of the event. Our commons leaders also informed us of a lovely midd tradition in which you're supposed to take your shirt off everytime you hear 'like a prayer' by madonna. how classy.
Have been gradually realizing how many parallels there are between harry potter and middlebury- v. entertaining. for example our common systems work just like houses- except we don't have quidditch teams. ok here's a sidetrack- have you ever noticed that they never bathe at hogwarts?? there's not even mention of showers. are wizards always magically clean?
and like harry i like getting mail, or phone calls so please, please call me. or at least blog!!
